In designing Macbeth, I played with the boundaries between reality and fiction throughout the play. The throne and crown that Macbeth desired so desperately are, in reality, just a simple chair and a paper cutout. This stark contrast serves to underscore the pointless and senseless nature of his murderous ambition and the ensuing war, ultimately revealing the objects of desire, for which so many lives were sacrificed, as meaningless The witches in the play emerge as products of the war, springing forth from sandbags meant to protect the country. Their presence and actions highlight how the chaos and brutality of war give rise to dark and malevolent forces. These witches, born from the very heart of conflict, symbolize the eerie and long-lasting destructive nature of war. Through these design choices, I aimed to offer a theatrical critique of the current war situation in the world.
