Reform 97 explores how a school reform has profoundly affected a family's life and invites audiences to discuss how we should move forward with the educational system for our children in the future.
In this production, all the elementary students were represented by printed cardboard cutouts. The protagonists interacted with these cardboard cutouts as friends and as representations of the overwhelming number of students in a class. The design emphasized the main character's journey while also addressing broader concerns for the younger generation navigating the educational system. The cardboard cutouts served as a reminder of the vulnerability and need for a more supportive and thoughtful approach to education, emphasizing that behind the cutouts are real children who require more care.
